EMMSTech was founded in October 2018 when four Women of Colour came together in response to a shared reality: tech and entrepreneurship were shaping the future, yet Women of Colour were largely excluded from access, opportunity, and leadership.
We are living in politically and socially polarized times where technology increasingly determines who is seen, heard, hired, and protected. Who builds tech matters. Research from McKinsey shows companies with diverse leadership are significantly more likely to outperform their peers—yet Women of Colour remain among the most underrepresented groups in the industry.
EMMSTech exists to change this by building community, access, and opportunities by and for Women of Colour in Tech in the Nordics—because innovation that isn’t inclusive doesn’t serve everyone.
EMMSTECH has grown into a Nordic organisation that supports women by creating opportunities for growth, learning, and representation.
We aim to provide innovative and meaningful content and want to create a shift in the discussion of diversity and inclusion within tech by placing our community at the centre and creating a conversation with them and not about them.
